Are you battling food addiction?

Are you battling food cravings? Are you giving in to those cravings? Are you indulging in foods that are holding you back from progressing towards your fitness and health goals? Have you ever taken time out to ask yourself what you are truly feeling during these times?

I want to remind you that food is not love, it is not personal acknowledgement, it is not happiness, it is not friendship, it is not meant to replace loneliness, it is not meant to curb anxiety or produce feelings of fulfillment. Food does not change bad memories you may house, nor does it change anything about a work deadline you may have. When you have moments of cravings, I want you to ask yourself what you are experiencing? Be honest with yourself and search deep – take at least 10 minutes and go for a walk, listen to some music, or meditate and self reflect. Ask yourself what it is that is enticing you to stray from your diet. What is it in particular that is getting you to want to experience the taste of a given food or food group? What is it that you are needing? This is a really important step in helping you to change some emotional habits that you may not be aware of.

Here are some questions to ask yourself when you feel enticed to break your eating regime and divert yourself from your goals:

  1. What were you thinking?

  2. What did you learn?

  3. What could you have done differently?

  4. What will you do differently next time?

It’s important to understand why we choose to do the things we do. When we recognize and better understand what is driving us to make the decisions we do, we empower ourselves to make better choices in the future. Learning greater self control and becoming more self-aware allows the future you dream of to become a reality.

It should be added that there are many diet strategies to help lessen cravings while providing more satiety, increased feelings of energy, improved cognition and overall well being. To learn more, chat with Coach Mark for free by registering here.
